Modeling elastoviscoplastic materials using physics-informed neural networks

1 month 1 week ago
Elastoviscoplastic (EVP) materials pose significant challenges for predictive modeling, especially under large amplitude oscillatory shear (LAOS) conditions due to their nonlinear rheological behavior. While various models have been proposed to describe yielding and viscoelastic transitions, their application to experimental data remains limited due to computational complexity, poor generalizability, and difficulty in fitting noisy data. This work re-evaluates rheological modeling of EVP...

Cardiac resynchronization in heart failure with mildly reduced ejection fraction and electrical dyssynchrony without primary indication for pacing: A systematic review and meta-analysis

1 month 1 week ago
CONCLUSIONS: In patients with HFmrEF and electrical dyssynchrony, CRT/CSP was associated with favorable remodeling, functional, electrical, and biomarker changes relative to baseline. However, the available evidence remains limited and largely non-randomized. These findings are hypothesis-generating and should be confirmed in adequately powered randomized trials.

Canaloplasty via an ab-interno approach in primary open-angle glaucoma: Results from a large case series

1 month 1 week ago
CONCLUSIONS: Ab-interno canaloplasty using the iTrack microcatheter, whether as a standalone procedure or combined with phacoemulsification, resulted in sustained reductions in IOP and medication use, with a low rate of complications. These outcomes were consistent across varying levels of disease severity and baseline IOP, with the most pronounced benefits observed in eyes with elevated preoperative IOP.

A Qualitative Assessment of Preoperative Educational Needs Among Adolescent Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Patients and Parents or Guardians

1 month 1 week ago
CONCLUSIONS: This current study identified gaps in the format of delivery and topics covered in structured preoperative educational materials. Future work should determine if these gaps are widespread across accredited MBS centers. Furthermore, the development of additional materials should be considered.
