Psychometric evaluation of the NFOSI-18 disease related symptoms - Physical, NFOSI-18 Total, and FACT GP5 in the recurrent ovarian cancer phase III study GY004

4 weeks 1 day ago
CONCLUSIONS: The NFOSI-18 DRS-P and Total scales are reliable, valid, and responsive measures in recurrent ovarian cancer. These findings support their use as PRO endpoints in future ovarian cancer clinical trials.

FOXC2 and WT1 regulate transcriptional reprogramming during the podocyte response to injury

4 weeks 1 day ago
Transcriptional reprogramming has an important role in kidney glomerular disease. Using in vivo murine models of podocyte injury, we studied the roles of the FOXC2 and WT1 transcription factors (TFs) in podocyte injury. Podocytes are a crucial cell type of glomeruli, the filtration units of each nephron. Podocyte injury is often the incipient event leading to chronic kidney disease. It is well established that the TFs FOXC2 and WT1 are required in podocytes to maintain the glomerular filtration...

Transcriptional responses to chronic oxidative stress require cholinergic activation of G-protein-coupled receptor signaling

4 weeks 1 day ago
Organisms have evolved protective strategies that are geared toward limiting cellular damage and enhancing organismal survival in the face of environmental stresses, but how these protective mechanisms are coordinated remains unclear. Here, we define a requirement for neural activity in mobilizing the antioxidant defenses of the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans both during chronic oxidative stress and prior to its onset. We show that acetylcholine-deficient mutants are particularly vulnerable to...

Endurance exercise elicits temporal and sexual dimorphic multi-omics remodeling of liver metabolism revealed by MoTrPAC

4 weeks 1 day ago
The mechanisms by which exercise modulates liver metabolism are poorly understood. Leveraging data from molecular transducers of physical activity consortium (MoTrPAC), we analyzed liver adaptations across 1, 2, 4, and 8 weeks of exercise in male and female rats using multi-omics approaches. Female livers displayed a progressive increase in oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) protein complexes, while male livers showed an increased acetylation of OXPHOS, tricarboxylic acid cycle, and fatty acid...

'No lu'au for baby's 1st birthday': becoming a mother during the COVID-19 pandemic in Hawai'i

INTRODUCTION: The COVID-19 pandemic had deleterious effects across healthcare. People who gave birth during this time experienced increases in mental health challenges compared to their non-pandemic counterparts. Given Hawai'i's geographical location, people who gave birth there may have experienced additional impacts not experienced on the US mainland. The purpose of this study was to investigate experiences of becoming a mother in Hawai'i during COVID-19.
