Oklahoma Research Highlights

Developing a core outcome set for the NeuroPoint Alliance Quality Outcomes Database Pediatric Tumor Surgery Registry: a modified Delphi study

1 day 6 hours ago
CONCLUSIONS: This modified Delphi study established a consensus-based core outcome set for the NPA QOD Pediatric Tumor Surgery Registry, providing a practical foundation for standardized, prospective, multicenter pediatric neurosurgical oncology data collection.

Rising adoption of imageless navigation in total hip arthroplasty for morbid obesity: do clinical outcomes improve? A matched cohort study

1 day 6 hours ago
CONCLUSIONS: Among patients who have morbid obesity undergoing primary THA, imageless navigation was not associated with improved outcomes compared with manual techniques, suggesting postoperative risk is driven primarily by obesity-related factors. Surgeons should weigh resource utilization and patient characteristics when selecting operative technique.

Genomic profiling of Morganella morganii: insights into antibiotic resistance genes, pathogenicity islands, and toxin-antitoxin systems

1 day 6 hours ago
Morganella morganii is an opportunistic pathogen affecting immunocompromised and hospitalized intensive care patients. It colonizes diverse environments and exhibits multidrug resistance. Its genome encodes factors that impart pathogenicity and resistance to multiple antibiotics. This study provided insights into the resistome, mobilome, and toxin-antitoxin systems of M. morganii strains from human clinical samples, food, animals, and wastewater. The pangenome predicted 2,852 core genes shared...

Lipid Nanoparticle Surface Engineering with Heparosan Polysaccharides for Safe and Effective mRNA Delivery In Vitro and In Vivo

1 day 6 hours ago
Lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) are clinically established carriers for nucleic acid therapeutics and mRNA-based vaccines. Current LNP formulations often use poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG)-based surface modifications to enhance pharmacokinetics, colloidal stability, and shelf life. However, PEG moieties can elicit anti-PEG immune responses, reactogenicity, and hypersensitivity reactions. Here, we investigated heparosan (HEP), a naturally occurring, biodegradable polysaccharide, for mRNA-LNP surface...

Elucidating the causal mechanisms of Taenia solium transmission in humans, pigs and the environment: A global systematic review

1 day 6 hours ago
CONCLUSIONS/SIGNIFICANCE: Our rigorous systematic review is the first to consider risk factors of human and porcine T. solium disease simultaneously, allowing a synthesis of information from both hosts in order to elucidate causal mechanisms for risk factors of cysticercosis. Our work also highlights areas of T. solium epidemiology which are understudied, such as the causal mechanisms of taeniasis.
