Foundations of climate change denial: Anti-environmentalism and anti-science

2 months 1 week ago
Despite a longstanding scientific consensus about the reality of anthropogenic global warming (AGW), a climate change countermovement (CCCM) has worked to undermine and cast doubt on climate science for over three decades. The CCCM is a coalition led by fossil fuel corporations and their advocacy organizations, far-right conservative think tanks (CTTs), conservative foundations and a few dissenting scientists that has successfully thwarted domestic mitigation policies and international...

INHALE-1: A Multicenter Randomized Trial of Inhaled Technosphere Insulin in Children With Type 1 Diabetes

2 months 1 week ago
CONCLUSIONS: The primary analysis did not meet the prespecified criteria for HbA1c noninferiority. However, TI use was safe over 26 weeks without affecting pulmonary function and was associated with greater treatment satisfaction and less weight gain compared with RAA, supporting TI as a treatment option for some pediatric patients with type 1 diabetes.

Biochemical Modifications of Homocysteine Drive Neutrophil Extracellular Trap Formation in Ischemic Stroke

2 months 1 week ago
Excessive production of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) contributes to immunothrombosis activation in ischemic stroke pathogenesis. The metabolic and mechanistic regulators of NET formation in relation to platelet activation during ischemic stroke remain poorly understood. In the present study, using multiple animal and clinical models of stroke, we examined the role of homocysteine and its biochemical modifications on NET formation and concomitant neuronal damage, platelet aggregation,...

First identification of concurrent infections with novel emerging duck astrovirus and duck hepatitis A virus type 3 (DHAV-3) in ducklings in Egypt using metagenomic next-generation sequencing (m-NGS)

2 months 1 week ago
First complete genome sequencing of a DHAV-3 strain from Egypt using m-NGS.Discovery of a novel duck astrovirus co-infecting with DHAV-3.Phylogenetic analysis reveals cross-border transmission links with Asian strains of both DHAV-3 and DAstV-5.

TDP-43-proteinopathy at the crossroads of tauopathy: on copathology and current and prospective biomarkers

2 months 1 week ago
Though usually described as isolated models, neurodegenerative diseases exist in a significant proportion of cases as mixed pathologies, particularly in older adults. The presence of co-pathologies may influence phenotypes and progression, and the correct classification in vivo has proven to be challenging, particularly without proper biomarker panels. Recent breakthroughs in biomarkers, enabling earlier detection in Alzheimer's disease and, more recently, in synuclein-related diseases, are...
