"Revisiting the Reverse Sural Artery Flap: Anatomic Study and Novel Modifications for Extended Flap Reach"

2 months 2 weeks ago
CONCLUSIONS: The terminal peroneal perforator may lie higher than the 5 cm pivot point generally recommended for the RSAF. For these cases, perforator skeletonization, dissection off and/or tunneling under the Achilles tendon, and even proximal peroneal artery ligation can allow further reach of the RSAF to reliably cover distal defects including the medial foot and forefoot.

Satellite imagery reveals increasing volatility in human night-time activity

2 months 2 weeks ago
Artificial light at night (ALAN) marks the global impact of humanity^(1,2). Yet, our understanding of its true ebb and flow has been limited, often based on temporally aggregated satellite data that obscure finer dynamics. Here, using daily night-time satellite imagery³ and a continuous change detection approach^(4,5), we created global maps of high-frequency ALAN dynamics (2014-2022). Our findings challenge the prevailing perspective that changes in light radiance are largely gradual and...

Phase Ib trial of SL-172154, a bispecific CD47 inhibitor and CD40 agonist Fc-fusion protein, in combination with mirvetuximab soravtansine or pegylated liposomal doxorubicin in patients with platinum-resistant ovarian cancer

2 months 2 weeks ago
CONCLUSIONS: Combination of SL172154 with MIRV did not improve upon the previously reported ORR for MIRV, while the combination with PLD resulted in a higher ORR than reported for PLD, albeit in a small number of patients. Limited tumor penetration of SL-172154, lack of durable CD47 blockade, inability to overcome T cell exhaustion and other mechanisms of resistance may explain these findings. Trial register number: NCT05483933.

Life expectancy gains across US states between 1941 and 2000: a cohort study

2 months 2 weeks ago
CONCLUSIONS: Cohort life expectancy estimates across US states over the birth cohorts born between 1941 and 2000 have shown important gains in all states and regions. The lack of progress estimated in other work is not replicated; for example, recent work estimated that between 1950 and 2000, at least 15 states' female populations experienced cohort life expectancy losses; however, the use of better data and robust methods show no losses by any state. Our results also point to early life public...

Enteric Viral Pathogens in Infants in the United States: 2017-2020

2 months 2 weeks ago
CONCLUSION: Our findings show the high burden of symptomatic enteric viral infections, particularly norovirus, as well as the high frequency of asymptomatic infections, thereby improving our understanding of the epidemiology and clinical manifestations of enteric viral infections in young US children.
