From deviation risk to trajectory complexity: machine learning-based deviation characterization and tortuosity analysis for wellbore quality assessment

1 month 3 weeks ago
Unintentional wellbore deviation presents persistent challenges in drilling operations, often leading to cumulative trajectory irregularities that can compromise downhole equipment reliability and production performance. This study presents an integrated framework that combines machine learning (ML)-based prediction of deviation risk with a tortuosity-based engineering diagnostic to interpret the geometric and operational consequences of deviation. Using well-log-derived formation and...

Targeting senescence mitigates the deleterious effects of midlife obesity on neurovascular function by partially restoring blood-brain barrier integrity and neurovascular coupling

1 month 3 weeks ago
Midlife obesity is a major risk factor for vascular cognitive impairment (VCI) and dementia, but the cellular mechanisms linking obesity to brain microvascular dysfunction remain unclear. Here, we show that high-fat diet (HFD)-induced obesity accelerates cellular senescence within the neurovascular unit (NVU), resulting in structural and functional microcirculatory deficits. Combining multimodal in vivo longitudinal imaging with single-cell RNA sequencing, we identify a senescence-associated...

Multifunctional Online Medical Record Use and Patient Empowerment: Examining the Mediating Role of Patient-Centered Communication Across the Life Span in the Greater China Region

1 month 3 weeks ago
The Greater China region represents the fastest-growing market for online medical records (OMR) implementation. However, the implications of these technologies for patient-centered care remain unclear. This study examined the relationships among different types of OMR usage (online patient-provider interactions, health information management, self-health management, and decision-making), patient-centered communication (PCC), and patient empowerment using a national sample (N = 6,271) of patients...

Characterizing Relationships Between Daily Pain, Opioid Use, and Mood in Patients With Advanced Cancer Using Ecological Momentary Assessments

1 month 3 weeks ago
CONCLUSION: Greater day-to-day fluctuations in pain catastrophizing were associated with magnified correspondence of pain severity with interference, mood disruption, and perceived opioid inefficacy. Routine monitoring of pain severity combined with tracking catastrophizing variability may help identify high-risk days and inform in-the-moment support to better personalize pain management.

Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis Risk Loci in East Asian Populations Mirror those of European Populations

1 month 3 weeks ago
CONCLUSIONS: We conclude that the IPF risk loci in East Asian populations are shared with those of European ancestry populations, although their risk allele frequencies and effect sizes differ. These findings indicate shared genetic risk factors of IPF across ancestries.
