Assessing uptake of the macular degeneration core outcome set in clinical trials: a cross-sectional study

3 months 1 week ago
CONCLUSION: No discernible patterns in COS usage for MD trials were observed. We recommend further collaboration between regulators and COS developers to help with COS uptake. Additionally, we suggest that further studies analyse adherence to COSs in respect to regulatory recommendations.

Food vendor characteristics in and around junior high schools and the relationship with adolescent diet quality in Ghana

3 months 1 week ago
CONCLUSION: Many adolescents purchased food at school and there were differences in foods sold by on- and off campus vendors. School policies may be a promising avenue to alter food environments for adolescents.

Assessment of the reporting of harms in systematic reviews focused on hallucinogens: A cross-sectional study

3 months 1 week ago
CONCLUSION: Harms were largely underreported in scientific literature regarding hallucinogen use, despite many studies designating them as a primary or secondary outcome. Inadequate reporting is unlikely to provide credible evidence used to evaluate the benefit-harm trade-off. Therefore, steps should be taken to improve the reporting of harms in studies concerning hallucinogen use.

Topical antibiotic therapy to reduce infection after operative treatment of fractures at high risk of infection: TOBRA-a multicenter randomized controlled trial protocol

3 months 1 week ago
INTRODUCTION: Complex articular fractures of the proximal (plateau) and distal (pilon) tibia carry a substantial risk of deep surgical site infections (SSIs), often resulting in serious complications and hospital readmissions. The TOBRA study is a multicenter, randomized controlled trial designed to determine if the combination of vancomycin plus tobramycin powder is more effective than vancomycin alone in decreasing the risk of deep SSIs after definitive fixation of these high-risk fractures.

Maternal western-style diet alters Kupffer cell proportion leading to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease when challenged with western diet in adulthood

3 months 1 week ago
Exposure to maternal western-style diet (mWD) is associated with early development of metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) in offspring. Kupffer cells (KCs), the main resident macrophage population in the liver, are known to promote MAFLD progression; however, the effects of mWD on KC subtypes, ontogeny, and gene expression in offspring are not fully understood. In this manuscript, we used two different models of mWD exposure and challenge in adulthood to understand the...
