K-type questions and the MPJE: Recommendations for evidence-based item reform

INTRODUCTION: The Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Examination (MPJE) is the only global pharmacy licensure and certification exam to use K-type questions. Though K-type questions were posited to better measure complex knowledge and abilities versus standard multiple-choice formats, other professional licensure exams removed K-type questions from use because of performance and validity concerns.

Spinal intradural epidermoid cysts in pediatric patients: illustrative cases and systematic review

CONCLUSIONS: In this first systematic review addressing sIEC in children, patients typically presented with progressive neurological deficits and the cyst was frequently associated with congenital spinal anomalies. Diffusion-weighted imaging was essential for diagnosis and surgical planning. GTR was associated with significantly lower recurrence rates and favorable neurological outcomes.

Migraine and Stroke Risk in Postmenopausal Women in the Women's Health Initiative

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Migraine is a known risk factor for stroke in women of reproductive age, although its relationship with stroke among postmenopausal women remains unclear. We assessed the association between migraine history and incident stroke in a sample of postmenopausal women.

Electrically Accelerated Mechanochemical Film Formation by a Phosphonium Phosphate Ionic Liquid: An In Situ Chemical Kinetics Investigation

Powertrains in electric vehicles are exposed to stray currents that accelerate wear and cause failure of mechanical components. These durability issues are further aggravated when using low-viscosity lubricants, which are desired for energy efficiency but create harsher contact conditions at sliding interfaces. This study investigates a phosphonium phosphate ionic liquid as a performance-enhancing additive in a low-viscosity base oil for lubricating electrified sliding interfaces. Ionic liquids...

EXPRESS: Stimulation of spinal afferents from skin activates parabrachial neurons that respond to taste

The parabrachial (PB) nucleus participates in neural coding for diverse sensory modalities, including nociception and taste. Recent neurophysiological studies identified a subpopulation of PB neurons that responds to both gustatory and oral nociceptive (trigeminal) stimuli. These taste-integrative neurons populate PB subnuclei that receive somatosensory input from bodily skin supplied by spinal afferents. Yet whether spinal sensory input can excite these cells was unexplored. Here, we applied...
