Combating Dermatologic Misinformation on Social Media via a Training Program for Health Care Professionals: Protocol for a 2-Phase Pilot Mixed Methods Study

3 weeks 2 days ago
CONCLUSIONS: This pilot study will inform the feasibility and refinement of social media training interventions designed to empower health care professionals to engage in evidence-based dermatologic health communication online.

A scalable embryonic stem cell-based platform for efficient generation of mitochondrial DNA mutant mice

3 weeks 2 days ago
Mitochondria are central to energy metabolism and cellular signaling, and mutations in mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) can disrupt these processes and contribute to human disease. However, progress in defining how mtDNA variation influences adaptation, pathophysiology, and disease susceptibility has been limited by the lack of suitable animal models. Although recent base-editing approaches enable direct mtDNA modification, their low efficiency restricts the generation of diverse models reflecting...

"Revisiting the Reverse Sural Artery Flap: Anatomic Study and Novel Modifications for Extended Flap Reach"

3 weeks 2 days ago
CONCLUSIONS: The terminal peroneal perforator may lie higher than the 5 cm pivot point generally recommended for the RSAF. For these cases, perforator skeletonization, dissection off and/or tunneling under the Achilles tendon, and even proximal peroneal artery ligation can allow further reach of the RSAF to reliably cover distal defects including the medial foot and forefoot.

Satellite imagery reveals increasing volatility in human night-time activity

3 weeks 2 days ago
Artificial light at night (ALAN) marks the global impact of humanity^(1,2). Yet, our understanding of its true ebb and flow has been limited, often based on temporally aggregated satellite data that obscure finer dynamics. Here, using daily night-time satellite imagery³ and a continuous change detection approach^(4,5), we created global maps of high-frequency ALAN dynamics (2014-2022). Our findings challenge the prevailing perspective that changes in light radiance are largely gradual and...

Phase Ib trial of SL-172154, a bispecific CD47 inhibitor and CD40 agonist Fc-fusion protein, in combination with mirvetuximab soravtansine or pegylated liposomal doxorubicin in patients with platinum-resistant ovarian cancer

3 weeks 2 days ago
CONCLUSIONS: Combination of SL172154 with MIRV did not improve upon the previously reported ORR for MIRV, while the combination with PLD resulted in a higher ORR than reported for PLD, albeit in a small number of patients. Limited tumor penetration of SL-172154, lack of durable CD47 blockade, inability to overcome T cell exhaustion and other mechanisms of resistance may explain these findings. Trial register number: NCT05483933.
