Efficacy and safety profile of busulfan plus low dose melphalan (BUMEL) versus high dose melphalan (MEL200) as a conditioning regimen for autologous hematopoietic stem cells transplantation (auto-HSCT) in multiple myeloma patients: a systematic review…

CONCLUSIONS: BUMEL conditioning offers improved disease control at the cost of increased toxicity, without a clear overall survival advantage. These findings support individualized conditioning selection, particularly in settings where upfront ASCT remains standard practice. This protocol was registered on PROSPERO with an ID of CRD420261292372.

Perceptions of Prognosis and Hope Among Patients With Advanced Cancer at the Time of Enrollment in an Early-Phase Clinical Trial

CONCLUSION: At the time of enrollment in an EPCT, we found no association between patients' hope and perception of the intent of cancer therapy or report of having discussed their prognosis with their oncologist. These findings suggest that patients can have hope despite acknowledging the noncurative intent of their therapy and prognostic discussions.

IFN-β as a therapeutic agent for influenza A virus infection in old mice

CONCLUSIONS: IFN-β administration to IAV-infected old mice improved overall outcome without worsening lung damage and inhibited neuroinflammatory and brain damage-associated pathways. These results suggest IFN-β warrants further investigation as adjunctive treatment for severe viral infections in select hosts.

Atrial fibrillation/flutter at presentation is associated with worse functional outcome in acute ischemic stroke patients treated with thrombolytic therapy: A multicenter retrospective cohort study

CONCLUSIONS: In AIS patients treated with thrombolytic therapy, admission EKG abnormalities are common and reflect a higher burden of systemic and neurological disease. Atrial fibrillation/flutter independently predicts worse functional outcomes and higher mortality, emphasizing its role as a poor prognostic marker in AIS.
