Oklahoma Research Highlights

Leveraging pretrained vision-language model for enhanced breast cancer diagnosis with multi-view mammography

2 months 4 weeks ago
CONCLUSIONS: The proposed Mammo-CLIP demonstrates superior breast cancer diagnosis performance compared to SOTA methods. This study highlights the potential of applying the finetuned vision-language models for developing multi-view, image-text-based CAD schemes of breast cancer.

Label-free viability assessment of ex vivo mouse kidneys for transplant applications using dynamic optical coherence tomography

2 months 4 weeks ago
Kidney transplantation remains the preferred treatment for patients with end-stage kidney disease. However, the ongoing shortage of donor organs continues to limit the availability of transplant treatments. Existing evaluation methods, such as the kidney donor profile index (KDPI) and pre-transplant donor biopsy (PTDB), have various limitations, including low discriminative power, invasiveness, and sampling errors, which reduce their effectiveness in organ quality assessment and contribute to...

Intracranial Retrograde Cerebrospinal Fluid Dissemination of H3 K27-altered Glioma

2 months 4 weeks ago
CONCLUSION: We report a novel case of recurrent distal spread of a right cerebellar DMGHA to the septum pellucidum. Although several putative mechanisms may be hypothesized to account for the very unique pattern of disease spread including simple multifocal disease, retrograde CSF dissemination may be the most likely mechanism. This is due to the lack of radiographic evidence for subcortical or hematogenous spread, and the interface between both enhancing masses and the CSF compartment.

Mortality trends in isolated systolic, diastolic, and combined hypertension: insights from NHANES database

2 months 4 weeks ago
CONCLUSIONS: This study sheds focus on systolic and diastolic components of hypertension. ISH is associated with increased mortality, independent of age, and should prompt prioritizing systolic control. IDH-more prevalent in younger adults-warrants age-specific management strategies. Findings support differential treatment thresholds for hypertension subtypes and underscore the need for longitudinal studies to better define IDH's long-term risk.

Air Pollution Levels in American Indian Communities in the Great Plains and Southwest: The Strong Heart Study

2 months 4 weeks ago
Differences in environmental exposures-particularly to ambient air pollution-have been consistently documented across communities in the United States (U.S.). However, relatively few studies on air pollution have focused on American Indians. In this paper, we combine demographic data from Phase IV (2001 to 2003) and Phase V (2006 to 2009) of the Strong Heart Study-the largest ongoing longitudinal epidemiologic cohort study of cardiovascular disease in American Indians-and 1 km² modeled PM(2.5)...
